In 2011, NBNA signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Mentoring Cares Program, headed by Susan Taylor, formerly Editor-in-Chief of Essence Magazine. She is a member of the Birmingham Black Nurses Association chapter of NBNA. The membership consists of registered nurses, licensed/practical nurses and nursing students.
